I enjoy cooking, listening to music, inventing and tinkering with products, and surfing the internet

Do you have any heroes?
Dan Gable, Ted Turner, my dad

Favorite Stadium, Event, Field, or Track?
Ironman Hawaii, world championship venue with all the lore, history, and nostalgia to go with it

What are some of your biggest Accomplishments?
2004 Amateur National Champion at Olympic Distance, Blackwater Eagleman Ironman 70.3 Champion and course record holder, 3x Ironman podium finisher

Favorite TV show?
Entourage

How about movie?
Rocky (the original, his whole life was a million to one shot!)

When did you start competing in your sport?
My first triathlon was in July of 2001, the Cornman Sprint in Gladbrook, IA. I turned pro in 2005.


TJ's Bio

TJ was born in Des Moines Iowa 8/12/1980.

TJ participated in many sports growing up, and in High School won 11 Varsity Athletic Letters. He was a four time Iowa High School State Cross Country Qualifier with a 16:16 PR for 5k. He was an all-state butterflier in swimming, only swimming his freshman and sophomore years. He was a four year starter on the soccer team earning all-conference honors his junior and senior years while captaining the team. He also joined the wrestling team mid season his senior year and wrestled varsity at 152 lbs.

2004-2007 TJ had tons of success as an age grouper where taking 1st place was the norm.

In 2008 TJ became an official Professional Triathlete and success was immediate with his 2nd place finish at Ironman Arizona; 13th Lifetime Fitness Triathlon; 14th at Vineman; 251st Hawaii Ironman Triathlon; His talent and leading man looks caught the eye of the top magazines in the sport and he finally agreed to be shot for the September issue of Inside Triathlon Magazine.

2009 has start great for TJ as he finished 2nd at Couer D’ Alene Triathlon. TJ will grace the cover of the August Triathlete Magazine Cover.
